I hope it's a 97. According to this website's history section, the 96 had some major changes that weren't favorable,, so the 97 went back to the pre 96 chassis.

I'd still prefer a 2000+ tz250 since new spares are available. 5ke cranks aren't that expensive and I can't find new cranks for the older tz's. Plenty of top end parts for everything though.

I'd love to have a 2000+ TZ250 and a set of those billet cases from Bruce Lind too. I can also get a spare new crank out of Japan for peace of mind.
