Never tried them, Mike. I stick with the OEM until NLA.
Always heard the forged require a bit more delicate breakin, and different tolerances. I believe most of that is posted here somewhere.

Hi Greg, welcome to the site. Source of answers to the many many questions we've all had. Follow the manual - especially when it comes to engine balancer gears and such :)
Good luck with the...

Thanks for sharing. Great writeup.

Ought to be fine. 12V battery, 4TW calls for 800mAh, though i use home made 1100 mAh. System will draw what it needs as long as you're supplying a good 12V to it. I get Batteries Plus to make up 8...

That's good news!
Who do you guys think we'd be best to contact to put our hands on one? Dennis, any Yamaha shop, or stick with Accu-P or RSC?
Thanks, Richard

I have a '97, and if they make them, I'll ring them up and have them make me the same they made you.
Thanks,
Richard

I don't! Honestly, they last quite a long time. Maybe every 3rd or 4th piston change? Never had a leak or a problem...

Excellent! These bikes are a blast!

Are the 4DP radiators curved (as OEM is)?
Thanks,

Happy birthday, Bruce! Hope it was a great one!

Yes, I check end gap to cylinder and side gap to piston. All was in spec.
Wondering if you guys replace rings more frequently than Pistons, or just do as a full top end set?

Generally follow the manual and replace full top end at 350-400 miles. Recently started swapping rings at half way.
These photos are of new top end after 1 race weekend (5 practice sessions, 5...
