You have nothing to loose in trying out the rebuild dude. If you check the specs, the stroke hasn't changed.
You can always buy that 08 with factory spares listed. Then you have two brand new...

Theres a guy on the USGPRU forum rebuilding them. $300+ if you send him the crank.

The Carbon Fiber bodywork was a mess so I had to restore all of it. I'm good at bodywork so it only took 50 hours or so. Whew!!! Only. Haa haa.
