How Many 3YLs were Made?

I might be wrong but i dont think Yamaha ever made 1899 versions of any production racer in one year. I can see them making maybe 500 max 3YL.

This thread caught has my interest, so does anyone know the number of 4DP1-4 (D-G) made each year.

It would be interesting to know how many '86 RK - thru 3YL, and also 4TW, and 5KE were manufactured / year, also.

Being all hand produced bikes, My thinking is, Yamaha built more than one frame per day (4DP) . So how many welders, fabricators, were present at the time? Did they farm out some of this or all in house?

Does anyone have pics of these bikes being built?

In the 80's - mid 90's I think Yamaha made a fixed number of bikes and then built more to order depending on the interest from the various country importers. Once you got to the late 90's / 2000's I think Yamaha just made a fixed number of bikes each year. At the end of the 5KE model, they were making less than 30 bikes a year. Other than the frames, engines I think most of the other parts are farmed out.

i have a 4DP2 and often wonder how many were made
maybe the thing to do is to make a list where members can input frame number, IF YOURS IS HIGHER OR LOWER COPY AND PASTE ENTIRE LIST INTO A REPLY, OVERWRITE THE APPROPRIATE ONE AND POST
with participation this will give an idea.
