Great read. When I read about the 4.0 cutaway solving a mid-corner hiccup, I knew I had to try that. My TZ250A has that symptom exactly as described.
It's funny but the other day I was building up a spare set of carbs and the set had a set of 4.0 cutaways. I was wondering why someone had changed them as the cutaway is not something you normally play with. So I've even got the slides to try already.

are you going to be at any of the ulrich-organized race rounds??

No Vince!
While I would really like to support John's series, I will be moving the race transport from Washington State to the east coast in April and then riding in the USGPRU series events back there in May.
You should try to get a group together and Join us for four wonderfull days at Road America over July 4th weekend. Thursday and Friday are Sportbiketracktime, track days, with seven sessions per day. Then Saturday and Sunday are CCS / USPGRU race days. Last two years we have ridden more that 550 MILES in those four days.
Yes, it requires at least one new top end rebuild during the weekend. And if the timing is wrong, replacement of a crank as well. But it is Elkhart lake and well worth it.
At a minimum, hope to see you at Tooele at the GPRU Finale.

Wow, I'm a bit embarrassed that got out into the world without some serious editing! When Ed and I originally conceived "Tribal Knowledge", we thought of selling a handbook. But the market for such is obviously very small, and shrinking. We both lost interest. I probably should go back and clean up a few things (and add some of what I've learned in the intervening 10 years) but that would take effort. Jim Hubert

I thought this was really interesting but the one point I found odd was the bit about not being able to seize a bike by simply running it lean. I have seen many owners seize their bikes searching for that extra 0.5 hp running questionable jetting. Maybe i missed something?
