4DP / 4TW Yamaha RODS NO LONGER AVAILABLE
a d v e r t i s e m e n t>
Just got a response back from my source in Japan that the 3XV rods are no longer available from Yamaha!
After further checking, the 4JT-11651-00/3YL-11651-00 and 3XV=11651-01 Rods are still available. It's only the 3XV-11651-20 units that are NLA at the moment.

...On the Grid...
Hi Bruce,
Do you know if 3xv-11651-00, 3xv-11651-01, & 3xv-11651-02 are all the same as the 3xv-11651-20 rod? I have a 4tw and a pair of 3xv-11651-01 rods I'm wondering if I can use. As you've said, the 3xv-11651-20 rods are no longer available.
Cheers.

Further update, I got the last six 3XV-11651-01 rods out of Japan. Told they are now no longer available.
The -01's were used up till 96 or 97. Cannot see any difference by looking at the two. But there must be something or Yamaha would not have changed the part number.
Back in the 70's we used to reuse the 250 & 750 rods several times until they showed pits on the bearing surface.
I'll have to start using the case of used ones I have been saving since 1993.

Hey Bruce, four of those used ones are mine! Set 'em aside for me!

it seems a 4jt rod would work as well, a bit heavier on big end but all other measurements seem the same.
