    Dunlop to Bridgestone

    a d v e r t i s e m e n t

Has any one made the change from Dunlop to Bridgestone tyres? The Dunlops are getting hard to find in the correct rear compound and this will only get worse as I hear they are no longer making them.I know Bridgestone do the correct sizes so need advice on compounds.I usually run a soft front/med rear in the Dunlops. Also how does feedback compare?I'm just starting out on a new 3YL so might as well make the change now.

This thread is about slicks not road tyres BTW.Thanks.

Just did the switch early June.
The only Dunlops we can get here (North America, more precisely Canada) are made in Buffalo NY.
The rear medium (only compound available) has a very stiff carcass, takes a lot of heat to work.
Front slicks were only available in medium compound...same stiffness in carcass, lost the front at less than racing speed (on a bumpy track). Then the distributor had a batch of special soft made...did not try them as I had the hardest time to make the rear work. The tire felt heavy and very stiff to the touch.

I switched to Bridgestone on Sunday therefore I only had 1 practice session to get used to them before racing.
I used soft front and rear. They felt like UK made Dunlops (soft ones that is).
They were a bit too soft for my riding so next I'll be trying the mediums.
The softer carcass made a huge difference in my bike's behavior compare to the US made Dunlops.
But most of all I have a choice of compounds...and was able to drop 2 seconds a lap on a 4.03 km, 15 corner track. I would have done similar lap times on a UK made soft front and medium rear.
My last year UK made rear medium was good for a long time...I did not have time to see how long the Bridgestone will last yet.
    Hope it helps!

Mark, where are you buying your Bridgestone slicks from in the UK?
