further to this, i'll note that there are some bits that, for whatever reason, are not avail in the US but are avail elsewhere. the powerjet solenoids, for example.
makes no damn sense to me, but these nozzles could be a similar situation.

Bruce Lind is probably the best guy to answer that but I can only suggest that it maybe improves 1/4 - 3/4 throttle response with a more consistent/different taper.

Yep! The 5KE's suffered from a flat spot in acceleration in the 1/4-1/2 throttle opening. This was corrected by the change in nozzle taper with the 898 series. Probably could have been solved by going back to needles with moveable clips, but for some reason, Yamaha decided to follow Honda and not have adjustable needles.
I checked my inventory and it indicates that I have a couple of the 3TC R-6 nozzles in the trailer which I'll be at for VIR this weekend. I'll check and see if they are really there or not.

By the way, have any of you replaced the stock Tz carbs with anything different? Carbs that would be easier to find the bits for? Or is that a whole different ball game?
